Heritage Centre plan scrutiny

Due to the renewed interest in the HNLF bid

We have done an updated analysis of the Business Pointer plan for the Helm/Heritage centre for Dunure

Two years after its publishing, the Business Pointer draft plan for the Helm is looking less and less convincing.

  • Year 1 of operation is likely to run at a loss of between £22,000 and £59,000
  • The plan as drafted ignores the National Lottery Heritage Fund’s policies discouraging new build
  • The suitability of the Helm as a wedding centre is called into question

This site has consistently called for an open public consultation on the plan for a Heritage Centre. This analysis details why, and calls for a fresh look at the business case for the Heritage Centre.

Only then can the village make a proper decision about whether to
close Kennedy Hall in favour of the Helm.
